Technical translation from and to the Spanish language

Spanish translation

The ATT translations offer the services of experienced and professional Spanish translators of various subjects and specialisations. All of them are capable of performing high-quality and professional translations of standard and not-so-standard specialised texts in the field in which they themselves specialise. The main task of our technical translation company is to bring together and direct the work of various translation specialists. The next important task is to supervise the translation process and the subsequent editing of the completed translation, the so-called revision of the translation by an editor.

We have been performing translations of various complexity levels since 2001. Over these years we have participated in a large number of translation projects, many of them involving Spanish. Most of our translations have been from English and Russian into Spanish but we have had other pairs of translations as well: Italian to Spanish, Spanish to German, French and other languages. Fortunately, we have established friendly relations with some translators and whole translation companies from Madrid, Barcelona and other cities in Spain, so we are able to translate almost any language pair through Spanish.

In each area of specialization, we strive to employ not just any translator-philologist, but rather a specialist who has significant experience in exactly the right specialization. A musician, for example, is unlikely to be able to translate a charter or a non-disclosure agreement. A builder or a mechanic will be useless in translating an article about a toothache. Apart from knowledge of a foreign language, Spanish in this case, you need a good command of a huge database of specific terms to be used and applied to the project in question. Moreover, a non-native speaker of Spanish would be unlikely to be able to make a high-quality translation into Spanish, and translation from Spanish is best left to an English or Russian-speaking translator, who can select the best term or vocabulary to accurately describe the information being translated.

What are the most common orders?

If we exclude purely notarial translations of documents, the most technical orders we receive are in the field of product labelling and packaging of Spanish products to be delivered to Russia. Hundreds of labels of all kinds of food products or different olive oils have been translated over the years. Powers of attorney and consent to legal actions between citizens of the Russian Federation and CIs have also been frequently translated. Several times we have seen medical extracts from hospitals in the Kingdom of Spain. There have been translations of multilingual instructions from English into Spanish, among others. Often our citizens travel to Spain to study or work. This means that they need translation of certificates of criminal records, certificates and diplomas from Russian into Spanish. Also, our citizens often buy real estate in this country, therefore they need translations certified by a notary. Remember that Spanish is also the official language in Latin America, and we have close contact with countries such as Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina and Mexico. All correspondence with these countries is done in Spanish.

We perform Spanish translations in the following areas:

Some of the main difficulties that can arise when translating from English into Spanish:

  1. Grammatical Differences: Spanish and English have different grammar rules, and this can lead to difficulties in translating some phrases and sentences. For example, Spanish has gendered nouns and adjectives, which means that the same word may have different forms depending on the gender of the noun it describes.
  2. Vocabulary: While there are many words that are similar in both languages, there are also many words that have different meanings in Spanish than in English. This can make it challenging to find the right word to use in a particular context.
  3. Idiomatic Expressions: Idiomatic expressions are phrases or sayings that have a meaning that is not necessarily related to the literal meaning of the words used. Translating these expressions can be challenging because they often don’t have a direct equivalent in the other language.
  4. Cultural Differences: Spanish-speaking countries have different cultural references than English-speaking countries, which can make it difficult to translate cultural expressions or references that may not exist in the target language.
  5. Sentence Structure: Spanish sentence structure is often different from English sentence structure, which can make it challenging to translate sentences word-for-word without changing the meaning.
  6. Verbs: Spanish has a more complex verb system than English, with different verb conjugations depending on the tense and mood. This can make it difficult to choose the correct verb form when translating from English.
